How to always be appreciated 🌟
There is an important lesson about self worth that tends to be learned rather late. I think the reason is, in part, that while we go through the education system, our options to explore a larger diversity of people and environments is limited. Let me explain.
I felt rather out of place while I was in school. Like I was rather invisible, the things that interested me did not interest other people and some of the things I did and liked came across as weird. I felt like a bit of an outsider. I wasn’t a misfit; I still have several friends from that time that I love very much. But during my school years I just did not really feel fully seen or appreciated.
Of course, as a young person, you tend to think that the problem is you. Maybe you’re just weird. Maybe you’re doomed to be only partially yourself.
But now that I have explored a whole lot more, I realized that the problem was not me. It was the place and the people.
There is a story I feel illustrates this very well. I made a short video about it.
Ultimately, the lesson is this:
If you don’t feel fully appreciated, chances are, you’re just in the wrong place.
The right place and the right people will see and appreciate you completely, just the way you are.
And finally, if you ever find yourself in the wrong place, don’t stay there.
